Flip the tub around. A Nutrition Facts label means it's food and EBT covers it. A Supplement Facts label means it's a supplement and EBT doesn't. Most protein powders are labeled as supplements.

- Read the title of that box. Nutrition Facts works. Supplement Facts doesn't.
That's the entire federal rule. It doesn't matter what the front of the tub says, what aisle it's in, or what it's made of.

Store websites that take EBT show product labels in the photos. Zoom in on the back panel before you add to cart. If the site won't let you pay with EBT at checkout, that item didn't pass.

Protein that always works
No label check needed for regular food. Eggs, canned tuna, beans, peanut butter, milk, and Greek yogurt are covered at every store that takes EBT.
