Yes, every kind
Baby formula is food under the federal rules. Powder, concentrate, ready-to-feed, name brand or store brand. If the store takes EBT, your card buys it.
SNAP and WIC are different programs
Both help with formula, and mixing them up causes most of the confusion at the register.
| SNAP (EBT food) | WIC | |
|---|---|---|
| Which formula | Any brand, any size | Only the brands and sizes on your WIC list |
| Which stores | Any store that takes EBT | WIC-approved stores only |
| The card | Your EBT card | A separate WIC card in most states |
If you have both, use WIC for the formula on your WIC list and save your SNAP balance for everything else. They're separate pots of money.
Also covered for babies
- Baby food in jars and pouches
- Infant cereal
- Toddler snacks and drinks with a Nutrition Facts label
Diapers, wipes, bottles, and medicine aren't food, so the food balance won't cover them.
Buying formula online with EBT
Amazon and Walmart both take SNAP online in nearly every state, and both deliver formula. Amazon marks what qualifies with a "SNAP EBT eligible" badge on the listing. The two biggest name brands carry it: Enfamil NeuroPro and Similac 360 Total Care (badges checked August 2026). Your benefits pay for the formula itself. Delivery fees, if any, need another payment method.
If a can gets declined
- Check you ran it as food benefits, not cash, if your card carries both.
- Check the balance first. Three free ways.
- Toddler drinks with a Supplement Facts label are the one formula-aisle item that legally fails. Almost everything else should go through.
Common questions
