The Restaurant Meals Program (RMP) lets you buy hot, ready-to-eat food with EBT at approved restaurants. You qualify if you're 60 or older, have a disability, or don't have a permanent place to stay.

How it works

EBT normally covers groceries you take home. Hot food is the one big exception, and RMP is the door through it. States choose to run the program. Restaurants apply to join. If you qualify, your card works at the register like anywhere else.

There's no separate card and usually no separate signup. Your state marks your case based on your age, disability status, or housing situation. Your spouse is covered too. You do need to be on SNAP itself first, which has its own income limits.

At the door, look for a SNAP or EBT decal near the payment stickers.
